There are a lot of reasons why someone chooses to homeschool. Listen to these four present some of them (Remember that on settings you can increase the playback speed!)

They include:

Values & Culture transmission; greater control over what your children are taught, teach your children your values & worldview, pull kids away from harmful influences & the indoctrination of public schools.

Academics & personalized education; more freedom & focus on individual differences and interests. Teaching to the child not to the test. There’s no evidence that suggests homeschooled kids are less educated or successful, and quite a bit that suggests the opposite.

Social; more freedom to choose the kinds of social interaction and the people you want to spend time with.

Family; more time to spend as a family and more flexibility in the schedule for extracurriculars, vacations, etc.

Efficiency; less time wasted on travel to and from, in between classes, on behavioral issues, etc.

You can really start on minute 6 with the video above.

Even if you find these reasons compelling, it can be hard to take the leap. And that’s where 4L comes in! You aren’t alone. And you don’t have to be home all day every day with your kids! Join a community of other parents and kids taking the road less traveled. Get help and support and make friends. Share the burden of teaching and managing all that goes into educating at home. Exchange ideas and resources with other homeschoolers. We’re here to help you do what you feel is right for your family but may feel fear about. Come join us!
